Open Question: How much money would I need to make to live comfortably?

My fiancee and I are both going to school right now on the east coast, but we plan on moving to Hawaii (where he grew up) after we graduate. I want to be able to make enough to live comfortably, that is, live in a decent area, buy our own house, not have to constantly worry about money, etc. We don't plan on living in Honolulu, maybe somewhere more like Kailua.
